Australia Provides Educational Assistance to Schools of Sumba

 

The Australian government has dished out four educational aid program called Innovation for Indonesia’s School Children (INOVASI) for four regencies in Sumba Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The assigned four regencies are Central Sumba, East Sumba, Southwest Sumba and West Sumba.

The educational aid, INOVASI program emphasizes on the improvement of the quality of literacy and numeracy learning outcomes of elementary school students.

NTT is the second region to host the implementation of INOVASI in Indonesia. A memorandum of understanding was signed between NTT administration and the Education and Cultural Ministry. It was represented by the province’s governor Frans Lebu Raya and the ministry’s Research and Development Agency head Tokok Suprayitno.

Frans said that the launch of INOVASI shows dedication and strong will of the government to and its program partners to ameliorate the quality of education in Sumba fundamentally in elementary education.

He said, “We are welcoming the implementation of INOVASI in NTT that will help us to improve students' learning outcomes, especially in literacy and numeracy.”

He further said that its objective is to explore local potentials which can be helpful to give a direction to the teaching patterns to for students.
